Reality Principle

Futility of expecting salvation by an external entity

An accepted belief: International Community (IC) will come down from its moral mount to rescue the Tamil people from the ongoing genocide in their historic homeland. Unfortunately, our world is not so ideal. In our world, victor has his ways.

When the Sinhala state surrounds more than 300, 000 Tamils in the Vanni and when it indiscriminately pounds known civilian centres, including hospitals, the message from the IC comes: surrender to save yourselves.

The February 3rd statement from the co-chairs, a quartet of Sri Lanka’s financial bakers, therefore, should be seen for what it is: an anticipatory acknowledgement of the Sinhala state’s “victory” over the Tamils.

Yes, the Sinhala state is deliberately targeting Tamil civilians; and yes, it is indefinitely detaining families for the simple reason that they are Tamil. But, none of this is of any relevance because, as the IC’s media keep pointing out, Sri Lankan is on the “verge of defeating” the Tamil insurgency.

Even after the Iraq venture, it is unfortunate the the IC fails to note that a nation of people can not be subjugated by military might alone. Certainly, the co-chairs appear to be absent-minded in their approach to resolve the Sinhala-Tamil conflict.

Sonia Congress dreams of Rajiv era

A recently popularised argument from several quarters is that the co-chairs are simply signing away statements drafted by the official “bystander”; their “strategic partner” in the region.

Disarming the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and installing New Delhi’s quislings as “representatives” of the Tamil people was the favoured policy of the Rajiv administration. How that imprudent quest costed thousands of lives and extended the agony of nations of people by more than two decades is now recorded history.

While one expects an “emerging state” to be dynamic in its policy formations, one has to admit that India is disturbingly trapped in the dynastic politics of the House of Nehru. In the corridors of Sabhas individual egos still take precedence over national interest.

New Delhi’s continued military assistant to Sri Lanka and the excessive use of wording from the Indo-Lanka Accord in the co-chairs latest press-release are perturbing at the least.

Attempts by certain individuals to justify New Delhi’s actions on ideological grounds only serve to bring shame to the intellectual advancement in India’s civil service. Russia, for example, did not cite its own “separatist” issue in Chechnya when it went to war with Georgia on behalf of the separatist rebels of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Likewise, the US does not consider democracy, women’s rights and religious freedom in its dealings with Saudi Arabia.

We need not point out that under the Sonia Congress administration India has lost whatever little influence it had left in the north of the country. In the aftermath of the Mumbai attacks, for example, India huffed and puffed but Pakistan has flatly refused to handover any suspects. Contrarily, till date, the country has enjoyed influence in its south, over both the Sinhalese and the Tamils.

That, however, looks set to change. The Tamils, although not taking direct orders from New Delhi, have been careful not to form any alliances that would not be in the long-term interest of India. Pushed against the wall and with nothing but genocide as only choice, Tamils will have to seek alliances, with whomever, in order to safeguard themselves.

An awfully short period of time is left for the Sonia Congress to reconsider its continued military assistance to Sri Lanka. Clinging on to the errors of a bygone era would not be in the long term interests of India. Allowing the Tamils to move into another great power’s sphere of influence would be New Delhi’s biggest blunder of recent times.

Waiting for GODIC

In the meantime, Tamils ought to engage in some self introspection vis-à-vis foreign relations instead of seeking pleasure in the belief that an external entity, in the form of God IC, would come to save us all.

For will alone succeeds.

Until unless global Tamils change the political landscape of Tamilnadu, their voices won’t be heard anywhere. Why Palestine problems still exist? Not because of Israel’s firepower, it’s because of the greedy politicians in ME who are sheik, emir, king, and sultan failed to escalate the issues with US, if they did, the middle East foreign policy of US would have changed and Israel would have forced to find an acceptable solution for Palestine.

The very least, the scumbag, Karunanidhi can do is withdraw his support for congress, so that they will be forced out of power. These are little things but it certainly dictate the fate of Tamils. There are lots of house cleaning in TN, lets start with Karunanidhi – this scumbag for good.

Peter, all very well for planning for the future in you ungettable goal of Eelam or your future relationships with India or the IC.

However surely there are more pressing concerns, such as ensuring the safety of the 200-300,000 civillians in the immediate term, and the de-mobbing and rehabilitation of the surrounded remaining low-level cadres of the LTTE.

The civillians have started moving to the government controlled areas now in their hundreds, and this will soon be a flood in the next few days. Ensuring that they have safe passage from the tigers and the government should be the primary goal. As it appears those who have made the escape, leaving aside the camps in which they are houses, are well and alive, there should be pressure put on the LTTE from their side to let the civillians go. The next pressing concern would be to ensure that these civillians do not become long term IDP’s and their villages, houses and livelihoods are restored. In that sense the diaspora have a very pressing challenge ahead.

The LTTE in this present incarnation is finished. Lets not beat around the bush. Having witnessed first hand how the JVP terror was put down in the south, I can assure you the government is more that capable of putting down any guerilla insurrection, just as they were in putting down the beginnings of the civillian insurrection in Jaffna with the white vans. Make no mistake – the civillians passing through will be vetted and all cadres will be indentified.

The mid level or hardcore cadres and the leaders will be massacred. There will be no mercy for them. After 25 years of was these individuals are well known to the armed forces and they will be id’d and terminated.

However the next concern would be to ensure the low level cadres, the ‘mahaveer’ families, those guilty by association etc. remain alive and do not meet the same fates as their former masters. This will be your next big concern.

So after all of that, and ensuring that all tamils are rehabilitated and allowed back to their homes, and remain a viable population and rebulid their strength over the next 10 years…… then, then perhaps you can revisit your ‘eelam struggle’ and the ssues as described in you fine, but ill timed article.

This is the harsh truth you are facing today.

Bhairav, Palestine problem only exists because the zionist in israel do not want to comprimise with the palestinians. Its like the JHU and likes with the tamils. If the United States Jews are the saviours of israel then the dispora tamils especially the politicially and economically strong people of eelam origin in Singapore and Malaysia will be this US for eelam.

Standard Charted which is the organiser of the Fuel Hedging is owned by Singapore. Sri Lankan dispora are losing their hard earned money this way.

The real estate boom and bust that many people wish to describe this problem is actually due to many buubles comming together. First Greenspans easy credit policies and low intrest rate to avoid deflation. Deflation are a natural part of any economic cycle. The US was supposed to go into a severe recession in 2000. It was pushed and lumped together now.

However banks were giving mortages and other funny financial products without bearing the risk. That was done by Fannie and Freddie Mac and others. The derivaties market etc was also not controlled. AIG stepped in to insure bets on these securties. Everybody was overeeveraging. Now its burst and every politician is convieniently blaming the people, when most are ignorant.

The derivaties market alone is worth 5000 trillion. Thats the reason so much is pumped in and it is not stopping the economic degradation. If most people knew that there was a real estate bubble would they have both. If Sri Lanka knew this, then Mahinda would have not won or he would have posponed the war.

The fact is the Sri Lanka which excludes occupied portions of eelam will start to see serve unrest. China is itself said that this crisis will be the test for the communist party. Its between a rock and a hard place. It has stopped buying bonds and you can see the yeilds on the treasury shooting up. This is inevitable. India will not bring back congress to power. Satyam investigations are going very slow because congress has a hand in it.

China will be too busy with her own problems. The chinese premier on his visit to UK said in Mandrin that chinese stimuls will only be for china. Well maybe someone should throw a shoe at mahindha to also force him to tell the truth.

Many Sri lankans come to this blog because you do not trust in your defencenet, defencewire. Ellanforce has faced a crushing and humiliating defeat and kept quiet.

If you are winning then the media should be allowed to be free. However sticter controls are in place. Sri Lanka is gone. The last time things like this occured, only Sri Lanka was in a shit hole, so it could go beg and borrow to save herself. Today she is desperate and asking the very dispora whom she could not support for help.

However it will not prevent a collapsing rupee. Neither will the effort to fill the fund be sucessful. Most of the dispora are going to get retrenched. Its poetic justice. Those who dont are going into a ponzi scheme because the fear that one ould lose their job is eough to not spend.

Thats why consumer spending in december(holiday season) was down 1%.

I can continue explaining the reasons why its certain that sri lanka is bankrupt and its potentially going to civil unrest and possibly military dictatorship. Anyway eelam is a reality Sri Lankans must learn to accept.

If you are so confident about your jobs and your economy, then dont waste your time. If you are so confident of victory put up the mission accomplished sign and see what happens.

A depression triggered in America is being played out in Europe with increasing violence, and other forms of social unrest are spreading. In Iceland, a government has fallen. Workers have marched in Zaragoza, as Spanish unemployment heads towards 20 per cent. There have been riots and bloodshed in Greece, protests in Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary and Bulgaria. The police have suppressed public discontent in Russia, and will be challenged again at large gatherings this weekend.

The discontent will also move on to getting foreigners out. I guess the Sri Lankan dispora will learn how its to live in constant fear for your family and get chased out for your homes.

    From the Web

The buying power of the American worker has been declining for decades. We have covered that up with imports, government spending and debt.

Now, we are reaching the end of our rope and it is about to hang us. You see, just creating jobs isn’t enough. You have to create jobs that pay enough to pay the taxes we need to support all the social programs we have decided we need. But, that is impossible with the current monetary and economic policies we have. The dollar has already depreciated 95% since 1913 and is about ready to go down the drain. Whether it is this year or not, when the money multiplier returns and the velocity of money rises again, as it always does, the dollar will tank and prices will soar on everything from discretionary items to basic necessities. $1,000 a loaf for bread is not out of the realm of possibility. All it takes is for the foreign lenders to dry up.

Riot? If I were 20 years younger I would take to the streets

The riots in Paris and the demonstrations against foreign work forces being used at British oil refineries and a power station seemed to be a presentiment of widespread civil disturbance, especially in this country. We are, after all, only at the beginning of a slump which is predicted by the IMF to hit Britain more seriously than any other developed nation. It will be longer and deeper and we can already see the hardship, the bills accumulating.

    Peter
Please re-read your post and see how it sounds from an Indian perspective. To be frank, it sounds like an open threat.
Now consider what sort of strategic mistakes the GoSL would pay millions to see from the LTTE. Top among them must be a Tamil movement actively working to undermind India and weaken its influence and internal cohesion. Take my word for it, if you think the future for Tamil Eelam looks problematic now, the active enmity of New Delhi will more than bury it.
You are in a very poor position because game-changing strategic mistakes were been made by your leadership. Greater flexibility might have delivered Eelam. Now it is too late. You and the remnants of the LTTE will need a period of quite introspection in which I suggest you assess very carefully who is actually responsible for this catastrophic failure. Following this I am certain a peaceful Tamil movement will emerge, as disciplined as the LTTE, though much wiser and therefore having realistic, flexible goals.
The very most you may expect from the IC now is a greater indulgence regarding refugee applications, and an avalanche of Aid funding to rehabilitate the North as an indivisible part of a unitary Sri Lankan state. This is the bitter reality to which I urge you to accomodate yourself.
One last observation: don’t hold you breath for an avenging BJP-led government to ride in to rescue Tamils. The simple reason for this is the irreversible geo-political reality on the ground – the Sri Lankan armed forces control the North. The only senario in which this would change would be a full-scale invasion by a reconstituted IPKF. Be assured, this is not going to happen.

    Peter,

In the immortal words of Ripley in Aliens, “Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?”

Will alone is not enough. Will and desire for victory alone cannot overcome hard force. The Wehrmacht had will, they were destroyed. The Khmer Rouge had will, they were destroyed. Kosovan Albanians had will, a stupid enemy and NATO support. They won their ethnically ‘pure’ state. They won. Get the picture? Sri Lanka is not former Yugoslavia, East Timor or Cyprus. Sorry.

You sound like the African militias who wear charms to ward off bullets. To succeed, the Eelam project needs will, guns, bullets, a supportive population base, safe areas for training and most important: meaningful support from a strong country.

Diaspora Eelamtards can march, demonstrate, cry, burn effigies of Rajapkse, shout ‘genocide’ every day for a month of sundays. It has not and will not matter a damn.

Their ’soft power’ has been defeated by a re-vitalised SLA’s hard power and the SLA’s facts on the ground, to use a favourite cliché.

Your Sun God’s strategic errors have been too well explained to be repeated. Now you threaten India. I sincerely hope that the remaining Eelamtards do threaten India’s interests. They’ll be shredded.

I love how the Peelamists threat a great regional super power like India. You can’t even fight the Sri Lankan soldiers & yet you speak of threanting INIDA…. India!! of all the countries! When the LTTE sees Sri Lankan special forces they run for their lives & hide in rat holes. If SL armed forces can do that to you the LTTE imagine what the mighty Indian military will do??

If you think you’re going to threaten India, intellectually that will not happen either. Indians are smart. They understand geo politics very well and they know where their strategic interests are. If you try to have the indian tamils rise against the Indian govt or try to destroy the unity between Indian states, boy, they’ll be in for a severe & a rude awakening. India will crush so you hard, you’d wish you were never born.

TN politicians don’t care about SL tamil folks. All they care about it getting elected to office & solidifying their voter base by appearing to support the LTTE terrorists activities. The only people who cares about SL tamils are SL people and peaceful tamil leaders. It is time for GOSL to talk about a political solution now. It is time to draw up plans to devolve power in a united Sri Lanka. It is time we convince the workd we’re serious about sharing power. It is time to put the sorry LTTE out of their misery once and for all for good.

    what does DW, DN report?
answer: news that relate to battles, things like how many soldiers died, what town was captured etc.

look at this blog’s last few articles, what do they have?
only political analysis and no battle reports.

is this an alternative to DW, DN?
    NO!!!

we go to http://puligal.blogspot.com/ and sibernews.com for battle reports because that is where we meet all the “intelligent” tamils and unbiased battle reports.
    hik! hik!

you lot disappoint me a lot. you guys views don’t deserve my attention and time. i will only be back here again on your Maha Moda day to tell you how wrong you were looking back in retrospect.

LTTE is just like Arrogant Aussi Cricket team.

    Few years ago:

LTTE was the most powerful Terrorist group in the world as per Norway, Canada, TN & few other countries.

Aussie pussies also the best cricket team in the world.

LTTE is miilitary strategies cannot be matched by any other countries as per Eric Solheim. The war against LTTE cannot be won as per RW and UNPiers.

Aussi cricket team is invisible and cannot be beaten.

    Now:

LTTE is on the verge of defeat and lost 99% of territory and a large amount of ammunition and the cadre.

Aussi pussies last year lost 3 nations final to India by 2-0 margin. They lost SA 4-1 margin and Black Caps 2-0 down in their own backyard.

LTTE lost all EAST, Mannar, Killi, Mulla.

    Aussie Pussies last 5 matches

    ODI form guide

    Australia – LLLLL
    New Zealand – WWWNW

This is true. Do not mix up Australia & NZ.

Tharu22, you response itself is sad reflection of yourself. Do you go to see a beggar to see how pathethic he is to you. The answer is a big NO. Its only your lack of belief in yourself and trust in your propaganda that forces you to come to websites like this. When LTTE launched its first air raid, why did tamilnet hang. The tamilwebsites worked fined. Later on why did tamilnet get blocked. Its only when you need to hide something do you need to block out information.

Your goverment inteligence agencies thought they were very smart setting up two blogs. Sadly even you do not believe it and come here. Not who is really pathetic.

Its good that you continue to see Sri Lanka as a sinhalese mono ethnic state as your forefathers decreed. The fact that when I have always mentioned Sri Lankan and you took that to mean sinhalese alone, not burghers or colombo chetty ect whom you claim as part of your citizenry already has caused you to face a crushing and humuliating defeat. Captain Cook, you take the nick of a famous british sea captain. Howeversadly rajinikanth has said that for 30 years the SLA has been fighting the LTTE and not able to defeat them. Now what kind of army it is. He might join the BJP. Shiva Shena leader who supports the LTTE is going to contest election in alliance with the Nationalist Congress under sharad pawar. Things are shaping up.

As far as politicians goes, Sri Lanka has the most deserving lot. I mean I have never seen a Sri Lankan politician accept responbility for their own inadequacie. They sow the seeds of the problem between Sri Lanka and eelam. Yet they also refuse to solve it.

In Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka is known as the land of the maids. Most Sri Lankan dispora will likely be retrenched in the comming months. Is there any choice of employment, thats a big no. Hence till you get your country act in shape, do not comment on India or eelam.

Mango, is the war over. Is there a misson accomplished banner on one of the dovoras or the so called deep sea vessels. Well nope. I said this many times in defencewire and I will say it again. LTTE has been doing what it needs to do. In the old days it needed to scarfice manpower to hold streches of the A9. Today it has long range artilery. With scouts it can target military convoys etc. Hence the A9 is still unuesable. In the military its called force mulitpliers.

Its becoming evident that just like in defencewire, i will need to keep explain and explaining to the Sri Lankans who come here their pathethic state. I mean its bankrupt. They are not paying soldiers who have gone MIA. I mean how long is it going to be before your army goes on a rampage on your own people again. Its been done twice. The eelam wars have killed far less people then what you army has done to its people.
